Just an ordinary couple? No, it’s Captain Georg von Trapp (Dane Barner) and his bride Maria (Greta Nelson) in their wedding finery.
They’re rehearsing a scene from the upcoming production of “The Sound of Music,” presented by the Webster City Community Theatre.
The production opens at 7 p.m. on Friday, June 30, for an eight-show run at the Webster City Community Theatre’s playhouse, located 1001 Willson Avenue in Webster City. Other evening shows are at 7 p.m. on July 1, July 5, July 6, July 7 and July 8; and at 2 p.m. for the July 2 and July 9 matinee performances.
With opening night is officially one week away, as costumers, carpenters, set painters, and decorators, lighting and sound technicians, backstage workers, and set changers are all bustling throughout the building working hard to make sure this iteration of “The Sound of Music” is one to enjoy and remember.
Oh yes, the actors. They’re currently rehearsing songs, choreography, blocking, memorizing lines (still), trying costumes and generally being a nuisance to those trying to make them look good on stage.
Tickets for The Sound of Music go on sale at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 24, at the WCCT box office. Box office hours are from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturdays, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on weeknights and one hour before shows.
