HAMPTON — An Abisai Ramirez-Carmona goal in the second half helped lift the Webster City boys soccer team to a 1-0 victory over Hampton-Dumont/CAL here Monday night. Ramirez-Carmona broke the scoreless tie when he sent home the winner off a pass from Aaron Mendoza. Lynx boys second in golf triangular

CARROLL — The Webster City boys golf team finished second here in a triangular with Carroll Kuemper and Panorama. The Knights carded a 146, 12 strokes ahead of the Lynx, who were led by Dawson Bertran. Bertran fired a round of 38, as Joel Kasch was right behind with a 39. Bertran finished fourth and Kasch fifth overall. Logan Wilson followed with a 40, Matthew Tesdahl had a 41 and both Coyce Bertran and Dylan Schroeder each shot 42s. Webster City heads to the Woodward-Granger Invitational on Thursday and plays at Lake Panorama in the Hal Rossow Invitational on Friday.

JEFFERSON — The Webster City girls track and field team braved quickly-dropping temperatures to compete here on Friday night at the Ram Early Bird hosted by Greene County. Over a dozen other schools joined the Lynx, who came away with a number of Top-5 performances. Junior Izzy Grossoehme and classmate Amanda Lahr each earned runner-up finishes, as Grossoehme took second in the 200-meter dash in 27.31 and Lahr was second in the shot put with a throw of 35-7.25. Janey Putney had herself a game, as the Webster City senior recorded a hat trick in a 3-0 victory over Wright County this past Thursday evening. Putney scored twice in the first half and added a third goal in the second stanza for the Lynx.
