The Webster City girls soccer team was left with a sour taste in their mouth following a 2-1 loss to North Central Conference rival Clear Lake. The Lions escaped Lynx Field after a goal by Webster City was waved off and Clear Lake scored on a penalty kick in the second half. Isabel Grossoehme continued her strong spring, winning the 400-meter dash in 59.60 while also placing third in the 100 in a time of 13.44. Lynx boys compete in NCC match

FORT DODGE — The Webster City boys tennis team dropped a North Central Conference match to St. Edmond here Tuesday. The final score was 6-3 in favor of the Gaels. Nathan Wardell was part of two of the three wins, scoring a singles victory at the No. 1 spot over Andrew Horrell in a tiebreaker. He also paired up with Sage Bock to secure a forfeit at No. 1 doubles. The South Hamilton boys golf team got the season going with tournament and triangular action this week. The Hawks finished fifth overall in the 18-hole Bondurant-Farrar Invitational at Terrace Hills Golf Course on Monday. North Polk won the seven-time event with a 306 followed by Gilbert, PCM, Nevada and South Hamilton, who had a 332. Luke Martensen led the way, shooting a 79 to finish in a tie for sixth overall. GOWRIE — The Webster City boys track and field team kept the momentum going from last week with a strong performance here Monday night at the Southeast Valley Invitational. The Lynx placed third overall, as the host Jaguars took home team gold. Justin Callahan, fresh off his school-record run in the 400 this past Saturday, won gold in the 800 and anchored the winning sprint medley relay.
