Webster City’s Coyce Bertran advanced individually out of a Class 3A boys sectional meet on Wednesday at Briggs Woods Golf Course.
Bertran carded a 41-37–78 to move on. He recorded 10 pars and a birdie.
The junior will now play in a 3A district meet in Atlantic on Monday.
Webster City came up a single stroke short in its bid to make consecutive runs to the state tournament. Senior Syrus Willard (39-41–80) followed Bertran’s efforts, with junior Dylan Schroeder (83) and senior Dawson Bertran (85) turning in the other Lynx counting scores.
Coyce Bertran was eighth overall individually for Webster City. Willard placed 11th and Schroeder took 18th.
Des Moines Christian (308) captured the sectional title, followed by Humboldt (313) and Nevada (325). All three squads clinched district bids in the process.
The Lynx tied Gilbert for fourth at 326.
Nevada’s Parker Rogers fired a four-under par 68 to earn individual medalist honors. Johnathan Bouska of Gilbert (71) was the runner-up.
