Lynx blank Charles City

CHARLES CITY — The Webster City boys soccer team picked up another win, shutting out Charles City here Tuesday, 3-0.

Aaron Mendoza, Dany Morales and Abisai Ramirez-Carmona each had a goal, with Mendoza and Morales scoring in the first half. Ramirez-Carmona put it away with a goal in the 77th minute on a free-kick from the half.

“We got a lot of guys some minutes,” WCHS head coach Craig Signorin said. “We were very sluggish, but that was to be expected after the battle with Clear Lake we had on Monday night.

“We told Aaron with the wind to try and bend it in the far post with the goalie cheating off his line. It was a think of beauty (his goal).”

The Lynx (9-2-2 overall, 9-2-2 in North Central Conference) finished with 25 shots, including 15 that game on goal. They also had seven corners. Ramirez-Carmona also had an assist on the Morales goal.
