Lynx will run at Clear Lake
The Webster City track and field teams will see several familiar faces on Thursday when they compete in Clear Lake at a Class 3A qualifying meet.
Field events begin at 4 p.m. with running to start 45 minutes later.
Joining the Lynx will be Charles City, the host Lions, Decorah, Hampton-Dumont/CAL, Humboldt, Independence and Nevada.
Automatic qualifiers will be first and second place finishes in each event, with the next eight-best from all the districts also advancing to Drake Stadium in Des Moines when the state meet begins on May 21.
Justin Callahan has the third-best district time in the 400, 800 and 400 hurdles. Jaxon Griffith is third in the 110 hurdles and Rylan Stroner is fifth in the 200.
For relays, the Lynx have the No. 2 sprint medley and distance medley relay times, in addition to the third-fastest 4×400 and 4×800.
Izzy Grossoehme is seeded first in the 400 and second in the 200, Tessa Hansen is fifth in the 400 hurdles, Amanda Lahr is fifth in the shot put and Jakaela Cherry is fifth in the discus.
Both the sprint medley and shuttle hurdle relays are second while the 4×100, 4×200 and 4×400 are each third.
South Hamilton will compete in Story City alongside Clarion-Goldfield/Dows, Eagle Grove, Greene County, Grundy Center, Iowa Falls-Alden, Ogden, Roland-Story, South Hardin, Van Meter, West Marshall and Woodward-Granger.
For 1A, event winners from each district automatically qualify along with the next 14 best from the other districts.
Tessa Skartvedt is first in the shot put and discus, Isabel Swenson is second in the high jump and Daytona Ferrie is third in the discus. For the Hawk boys, Jesus Garcia is seeded fifth in the 3,200.
