HUMBOLDT — The Webster City girls track and field team claimed a third-place finish here Monday at a meet hosted by North Central Conference rival Humboldt. Algona placed first overall, with the Wildcats second. The Lynx were followed in the team standings by Pocahontas Area, Southeast Valley, Hampton-Dumont/CAL, Estherville-LC and St. Edmond. Lynx boys fall to Clear Lake

The Webster City boys tennis team dropped a 9-0 decision to Clear Lake on Monday afternoon. Nathan Wardell pushed his match to a super-tiebreaker after splitting two sets with Walker Willams at the No. 1 singles spot. Wardell dropped the first set, 6-3, bouncing back to take the second, 6-2. Williams, though, won the match with a 13-11 victory in the super-tiebreaker. The Webster City boys tennis team secured a dual victory over Iowa Falls-Alden here last Friday behind three singles wins and two more doubles triumphs for a 5-4 win. Nathan Wardell and James Elliott had their hand in four of those, as Wardell scored a straight-set victory at No. 1 in singles over Carter Zollar, 6-4, 6-2. Lynx quartet runs at Drake

DES MOINES — Kali Hartnett, Tessa Hansen, Isabel Weinschenk and Isabel Grossoehme got the chance to experience the Drake Relays here this past Saturday. The Webster City quartet competed in the first round of the 4x100-meter relay from inside Drake Stadium, finishing in a time of 51.63. That was good enough for 83rd overall and fifth in the second heat. CLARION — The Webster City girls golf team finally got on the links for North Central Conference action, defeating both Clarion-Goldfield/Dows and Hampton-Dumont/CAL here Friday. The Lynx had a score of 217 led by a 53 from Mylie Keller, which earned the junior runner-up medalist honors. The Lynx claimed three relay titles and several other Top-5 individual finishes while nearly setting a five-decade old school-record.
