DES MOINES — Four members of the South Hamilton track and field team finished up the season here at the state championships from Drake Stadium.

Junior Tessa Skartvedt had the best finish, placing 10th in the Class 2A shot put event.

Isabel Swenson was 16th in the high jump, Jesus Garcia took 19th in the 3,200-meter run and Daytona Ferrie was 23rd in the discus.

Skartvedt just missed out on advancing to the finals, recording a best of 36-11.5. She also had throws of 34-9.75 and 33-9.25.

Swenson, a senior, successfully cleared the opening height of 4-10 on her first attempt before bowing out at 5-0.

Garcia’s junior season ended with a personal best in the two-mile, as he went 10:06.01, taking over 10 seconds off his previous low time. He closed in 70 seconds after opening in 68.

Ferrie wrapped up her Hawk career in the discus with a throw of 91-2. She also had attempts of 90-2 and 84-9.
