Hawks play for runner-up spot

JEWELL — Friday will be a special night for the South Hamilton football team.

The Hawks look to send out their seniors with a win to clinch the district runner-up spot when they host Grand View Christian here at 7 p.m.

South Hamilton (3-4 overall, 3-1 in the district) is coming off a loss to Woodward-Granger last week that snapped a three-game winning streak. But with a win over the Thunder (5-2, 2-2), they can earn another home game when postseason play kicks off.

Nick Severseike has taken over as of late, rushing for a team-high 473 yards. He shares the lead on the Hawks with Brayden Young for rushing scores with five while Kolby Hodnefield has 370 yards and three scores.

Ashton Williams has 357 yards and four TDs.

Judah Lock is one of the top quarterbacks in the district, throwing for over 1,600 yards with 15 touchdowns. The junior has key targets in classmate Brayden Hoben and senior Austin Jordan.

Hoben has caught 37 passes for 742 yards with six TDs while Jordan has 34 receptions for 457 and seven scores. Jake Albright leads the rushing attack with 288 yards and seven trips to the end zone.

South Hamilton won the only meeting between the two, picking up a 60-13 victory last year.
