AUSPICIOUS START

The Webster City baseball team started the season with a bang on Monday and Tuesday, tossing two no-hitters in a pair of routs.

The Lynx (2-0 overall) won a North Central Conference opener against Clarion-Goldfield-Dows, 15-0, on Monday. On Tuesday, the Lynx blanked Eagle Grove, 10-0.

Both triumphs ended via the mercy rule in five innings.

Matthew Tesdahl and Carter Mickelson combined to allow zero hits against C-G/D. Tesdahl went 4.2 innings with one walk and 10 strikeouts. The duo combined to strike out 11 of the 15 batters.

Jaxon Griffith and Braylon Dyvig had two hits each versus the Cowboys. Tesdahl recorded a triple and drove in three runs. Kaleb Hansen contributed three RBI. Carter Mickelson drove in two.

On Tuesday, Mickelson pitched five innings and was an error away from a perfect game. Mickelson had zero walks and had seven strikeouts against the Eagles.

Mickelson did damage at the plate as well, going 3-for-4 with two RBI. Griffith had two hits, including a triple.

Alex Staley drove in three runs, while Dyvig had two RBI. Tesdahl, Syrus Willard and Aiden Hrnicek all drove in a run.
