South Hamilton hits the road
SAYDEL — The South Hamilton football team looks to put a cap on another strong regular season here Friday night.
The Hawks can finish out district play unbeaten when they face Grand View Christian at Saydel High School.
Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
Last week, South Hamilton (6-1 overall, 4-0 in district) locked up the league title with a convincing 50-0 win over Woodward-Granger on Senior Night. The Hawks have now won 26 games over the past four seasons.
Nick Severseike rushed for 125 yards and four touchdowns, Noah Gunderson had 83 and a score, and Brayden Young found the end zone on a 46-yard carry. South Hamilton had 376 yards rushing on the night.
Severseike has 828 yards and 16 TDs on the year while Kolby Hodnefield and Gunderson each have over 400. As a team, South Hamilton has rushed 320 times for 2,773 yards with 40 scores.
The 2,773 yards ranks second in the entire state while the TD total is fourth-best.
The Hawk defense has pitched back-to-back shutouts and allowed only 22 points since a 29-20 loss to Roland-Story. Owen Renaud and Owen Duns each have 3.5 tackles while Young and Landon Greufe have picked off two passes.
Grand View Christian (4-3, 2-2) is tied for third in the district with West Central Valley. The Thunder downed Nodaway Valley last week, 26-0, and also hold a win over West Central Valley in league play.
Noah John has thrown for 1,205 yards and 12 touchdowns while rushing for 529 and 11. Austin Jordan is his favorite target, catching 30 passes for 518 and six TDs while Braydon Hoben has 23 for 341 and two.
GVC has nine sacks and forced 11 turnovers on defense with two scores.
