Webster City boys run at Pocahontas

POCAHONTAS — The Webster City boys track and field team capped off last week by competing here at the Pocahontas Area Invitational.

The Lynx claimed three relay titles and several other Top-5 individual finishes while nearly setting a five-decade old school-record.

In the distance medley, the quartet of Jaxon Griffith, Kaleb Hansen, Rylan Stroner and Justin Callahan won in 3:34.62, including a 1:57 anchor by Callahan.

Gabe Thumma, Kaleb Draeger, Jack Barner and Arlen Lake won the 4×800 relay in 9:03.04, as Daniel Murillo-Delfin, Stroner, Hansen and Callahan came together to capture the 4×400 in 3:27.90.

“We tinkered with our lineup and tried a few different things out,” WCHS head coach Chad Hisler said. “After a long week, I thought we competed very well and had many season and lifetime bests.”

Beau Nohrenberg and Zach Lahr picked up silver and bronze in the shot put, as both had lifetime-best throws. Nohrenberg’s was at 48-3.5 while Lahr went45-8.

Stroner added a runner-up in the 200, going a lifetime-best 22.64. Draeger finished third in the 800, Barner and Thumma placed third and fourth in the 1,600, and Murillo-Delfin and Dane Hansen did the same in the 400.

“All of those guys had lifetime-best runs,” Hisler said. “It’s great to see them posting great times as we continue to work towards the postseason.”

The sprint medley of Griffith, Israel Torres, Kaleb Hansen and Aiden Hrnicek finished third, Aiden Wardell was fourth in the 800 and 3,200, Cole Nohrenberg fourth in the discus, Torres was fifth in the 100, Hrnicek fifth in the 110 hurdles and Colby Roest was sixth in the 3,200.

Webster City heads to Alleman on Tuesday for a meet hosted by North Polk.
