Hawks look to continue streak
JEWELL — The South Hamilton football team will honor a collective unit of seniors this week when they take on Woodward-Granger for the district lead.
Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
The Hawks pushed their win streak to three with a convincing 36-0 victory over Ogden last week, a run in which they have scored 158 points and allowed just 22.
Both Nick Severseike and Kolby Hodnefield went over 100 yards, as Severseike had 131 and scored twice while Hodnefield added 106 and a TD. Ashton Williams and Noah Gunderson each found the end zone vs. the Bulldogs.
On the year, Severseike has 703 yards and 12 rushing touchdowns, Hodnefield has 432 and four, and Gunderson has 318 and four. As a team, South Hamilton (5-1 overall, 3-0 in district) is averaging nine yards per carry with 34 TDs on the ground and ranks second in the state in rushing yards with 2,397.
Following three losses to being the year, Woodward-Granger (3-3, 3-0) has dominated Grand View Christian, Ogden and Nodaway Valley, pitching two shutouts while scoring at least 45 points in all three games.
Bryan Jesse has completed 26 of 55 passes for 451 yards with five touchdowns, as Max Dalton is his leading target with 18 receptions for 309 and three TDs. Oliver Potter has rushed for 943 yards and 12 touchdowns.
Last year, South Hamilton posted a 38-14 victory over the Hawks, who have won six of eight in the series dating back to 2010.
South Hamilton will honor seniors Jonathan Drake, Owen Renaud, Tjerdan Johnson, Ryland Ubben, Prestin Van De Pol, Landon Greufe, Gunderson, Kendra Hoversten, Dylan Oskvig, Carter Stolee, Kaden Schwandt, Adley Peters and Owen Duns.
