DES MOINES — The Webster City baseball team dropped their first game of the season here Wednesday afternoon at Principal Park.

South Hardin scored a walk-off win in the eighth-inning, prevailing, 6-5.

The Lynx (10-1 overall) had rallied to tie the game at 5-all with four runs in the fifth, highlighted by a grand slam from Kaleb Hansen with two outs.

Hansen finished 2-for-4 with four RBI and a run scored with a walk, as Jaxon Griffith scored twice while stealing two bases. Matthew Tesdal also had an RBI and a hit.

Tesdahl pitched seven-plus innings, striking out eight without walking a batter. He allowed just three hits and no earned runs, as South Hardin took advantage of six errors by Webster City.

The Lynx will compete in the Newell-Fonda Tournament this Saturday at Newell, playing Hinton at 11:45 a.m. and Council Bluffs St. Albert at 4:15 p.m.
