Lynx, Hawks find out track qualifying sites

While the Webster City and South Hamilton track and field teams are either getting ready for their next meet or facing other competition, the Iowa High School Athletic Association and the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union set the course on where the Lynx and Hawks must go before making an appearance at Drake Stadium in Des Moines.

In a Monday announcement by the IHSAA and the IGHSAU, the Lynx will travel south and east to Nevada for their Class 3A State Qualifying Meet and the Hawks will make a short trek to Madrid for their Class 1A State Qualifying Meet.

Both district meets will take place on Thursday, May 11.

Competing against the Lynx at Cub Stadium will be several North Central Conference brethren in Algona, Clear Lake, Hampton-Dumont-CAL and Humboldt. Nonconference foes include Gilbert, Nevada and North Polk.

The Webster City girls’ track team was in action on Monday, taking part in the Wildcat Relays, held at the Humboldt Athletic Complex. Results from the meet will be posted in an upcoming edition of the Daily Freeman-Journal.

The Webster City boys’ track team will head down to Alleman to compete at the Comet Relays, set for 4:30 p.m. today at the North Polk Athletic Complex.
