Webster City wins three weekend matches
MADRID — The Webster City volleyball team won three of four matches Saturday at the Madrid Tournament.
The Lynx downed Audubon 21-17, 21-19; the host Tigers, 19-21, 21-7, 15-10; and Belmond-Klemme 21-12, 21-14. The lone blemish on the day came at the hands of Class 1A eighth-rated Ankeny Christian Academy 18-21, 6-21.
“The girls played consistent all day and came out strong against a very good ACA squad in the first set,” said Webster City Coach Jess Howard. “We were able to work on keeping our offense fast and the defense did a good job all day of slowing the ball down at the net. Our defensive specialist did a good job of playing balls to help us control the tempo of the games.”
Webster City will return to action on Thursday when they host Hampton-Dumont-CAL.
