Lynx, Hawks state track qualifying set

Webster City will see some familiar faces when they compete in a Class 3A state track and field qualifier in May.

The Lynx will be in Clear Lake looking to punch tickets to the state championships on Thursday, May 9. Action begins at 4 p.m. with the field events and running events to start at 4:45 p.m.

Joining Webster City and the host Lions will be Algona, Boone, Charles City, Decorah, Hampton-Dumont/CAL and Humboldt.

South Hamilton will also see several of the same teams they have battled this year when they head to Roland-Story in 2A. Along with the Hawks, the field will include Colfax-Mingo, Des Moines Christian, Eagle Grove, Iowa Falls-Alden, PCM, Pella Christian, Pleasantville, Roland-Story, Southeast Valley, West Central Valley and Woodward-Granger.

For both 3A and 2A, the first and second place finishers in each event at each district site will qualify for state with the rest of the field being made up of the next eight best finishers.

The state track and field championships take place May 16-18 in Des Moines from Drake Stadium.
