GOLF, SOCCER AND TENNIS BRIEFS
SH GIRLS GOLF 4TH AT HOIC: Rebekah Carlson and Miranda Deppe placed 10th and 11th, respectively, as they guided the South Hamilton girls’ golf team to a fourth-place finish at the Heart of Iowa Conference tournament in State Center on Wednesday.
The Hawks posed a 428 at Lincoln Valley Golf Course and finished three shots behind third-place Nevada (425).
West Marshall, buoyed by four players that finished in the top six on the individual leaderboard, won the team crown with a 369. Roland-Story (393) was second, as the Norseman had the individual champion (Makena Carlson 87) and runner-up (Ellie Erickson 89).
Carlson fired a 102, one shot ahead of Deppe (103). Grace Young (106) wasn’t far off the pace in 16th for the Hawks, while Amanda Ostrem (117) finished in 25th.

SH BOYS GOLF 3RD AT HOME TOURNEY: The South Hamilton boys’ golf team shot a 353 and placed third in its own invite at the Jewell Golf and Country Club yesterday afternoon.
Carroll Kuemper fired a 337 to win the team crown comfortably. Greene County (352) was second, just one shot in front of South Hamilton (353). Ogden (394) and Roland-Story (421) rounded out the field.
Kuemper’s Tyler Auen and Maverick Schwabe finished first and second on the individual leaderboard with rounds of 78 and 80, respectively.
South Hamilton’s Logan Sogard was fourth overall with an 82. Tjerdan Johnson and Gatlin Johnson both carded 89s and Gavin Swenson turned in a 93.

LYNX GIRLS SOCCER COLLECTS WIN: Jillian Symens produced a hat trick and the Webster City girls’ soccer team won its third match of the season at Lynx Field in Webster City last night.
Symens scored three times in the initial 39 minutes to lead WCHS to a 5-2 win over Belmond-Klemme. The Lynx (3-10, 3-7 NCC) led 5-0 at the half. Belmond-Klemme (0-11, 0-10 NCC) notched a pair of second-half goals.
Olivia Gallentine scored one goal and distributed two assists in the win. Kendyl Daniels added a goal and Mia Hanson and Symens both had an assist.
Ady Beaulieu made 13 saved in goal for the Lynx.
HERNANDEZ SCORES 4 TIMES, LYNX BOYS ROLL ON PITCH: Everado Hernandez scored a career-high four goals to spearhead the Webster City boys’ soccer team’s 8-0 rout of Belmond-Klemme at Lynx Field in Webster City last night.
David Gutierrez punched the ball into the back of the net twice and also delivered three assists, as WCHS (4-5, 3-5 NCC) ended a three-match slide. Eduardo Perez had a goal and assist, and Sam Moberly also notched a goal. Other assists were delivered by Hernandez and Levi Mussman.
Belmond-Klemme (0-13, 0-10 NCC) remained winless on the season.
LYNX TENNIS WINS IN SWEEP: A dominant effort in singles and doubles led the Webster City girls’ tennis team to an 11-0 sweep of Nevada in Nevada yesterday afternoon.
“A great all-around effort,” WCHS head coach Mark Fisher said. “Nevada is a young team, but they played hard and really made us work in our matches.
“This group just continues to work hard and improve every day, every meet.”
Jordyn Sullivan was an 8-1 singles winner for WCHS (7-2), while Mackenzie Burney and Trinity Griffith were both 8-2 winners. Joslin Gourley secured an 8-3 victory, and Kayley Wibholm and Makaylee Draeger wrapped up their matches, 8-4.
The Lynx usual doubles teams of Gourley and Wibholm, Burney and Draeger, and Sullivan and Griffith were all easy winners. The tandems of Ali Martinez and Keyla Martinez, and Zoie Timm and Gracie Anderson joined the mix for wins.
