Lynx girls in action at Ram Early Bird

JEFFERSON — The Webster City girls track and field team braved quickly-dropping temperatures to compete here on Friday night at the Ram Early Bird hosted by Greene County. Over a dozen other schools joined the Lynx, who came away with a number of Top-5 performances. Junior Izzy Grossoehme and classmate Amanda Lahr each earned runner-up finishes, as Grossoehme took second in the 200-meter dash in 27.31 and Lahr was second in the shot put with a throw of 35-7.25. Janey Putney had herself a game, as the Webster City senior recorded a hat trick in a 3-0 victory over Wright County this past Thursday evening. Putney scored twice in the first half and added a third goal in the second stanza for the Lynx. HUMBOLDT — The Webster City boys soccer team fought to a 1-1 draw with North Central Conference rival Humboldt here Monday night.
