JEWELL — Braden Young accounted for five touchdowns as the South Hamilton football team won for the third straight time, topping Ogden here this past Friday night by a score of 50-36.

Young had four touchdowns and nearly 100 yards of total offense, while adding a defensive score on a fumble recovery. Nick Severseike led the ground attack, as the returning all-stater approached 200 yards rushing.

“We had a really good offensive performance,” South Hamilton head coach Paul Skartvedt said. “Our offensive line is getting more experience and it is starting to show up on the rushing yards.

“Brayden had his best game of the season and Nick had a good game as well.”

Leading 28-12, the Hawks (3-3 overall, 3-0 in the district) added to the scoreboard with a Severseike rushing touchdown — his second of the third quarter.

Young’s 77-yard scoop-and-score in the second period gave South Hamilton a lead they would never relinquish.

“Our defense was challenged by a good Ogden offense that could both run and pass the ball,” Skartvedt said. “They pushed our young defensive backs, and we did a good job keeping the big plays to a minimum.”

For Ogden, CeJay Jones threw for 342 yards with three touchdowns. Freshmen Weston Sundell and Tyler Lass both went over 100 yards receiving.

South Hamilton heads to Woodward-Granger on Friday for a 7p.m. kickoff. The Hawks (5-1, 3-0) topped Grand View Christian last Friday night, 52-7.

Starting at $3.46/week.
