Grundy Center scored the overall team title with 142 points, as the Lynx were second with 124.5. Humboldt finished third followed by AGWSR, South Hardin, Iowa Falls-Alden, St. Edmond and Eagle Grove.

Amanda Lahr and Avery Poppen led Webster City to a sweep of the throwing events, as Lahr won the shot put and Poppen the discus. Lahr had a best throw of 36-11.25 and also won the junior varsity discus, as Poppen was marked at 108-11.5 and was the junior varsity shot put champion.

Izzy Grossoehme placed second in the 200-meter run in 26.49 and the 400-meter run in 1:01.18, as VanDeer added a runner-up in the 100 hurdles (17.07) and a bronze in the long jump (15-1).

“We had plenty of season-bests and personal records,” WCHS head coach Tyler Mosbach said. “We also had one last opportunity to try some different things before we head into the championship phase of the season.

“Now, the mindset shifts a little bit, as it is time to turn it up a notch and go after some things. You have to scrap for every place and every point.”

Jakaela Cherry added more points from the field events, placing second in the shot put (35-7) and fourth in the discus (96-8.25).

Webster City’s 4×800-meter relay of Haedyn Soesbe, Evie Davis, Ariauna Reed and Rubi Andrade-Murillo turned in a time of 12:03.96 to finish second, as did the sprint medley relay of Hartnett, Izzy Weinschenk, Hansen and Grossoehme in 1:54.21.
