The Webster City boys soccer team picked up a 4-1 victory on Senior Night here Tuesday over Iowa Falls-Alden.

A pair of first-half goals helped the Lynx get back on track following a tough loss to No. 10 (Class 2A) Wright County earlier this week. They remain second in the North Central Conference race.

“Really good from start to about the finish,” WCHS head coach Craig Signorin said. “I thought we moved and possessed the ball well, just would like to connect a little more closer to goal to have more high percentage chances on goal than launching them from 30 yards out.”

Aaron Mendoza was first to score for Webster City (6-2-2 overall, 6-2-2 in the league), doing so in the 11th minute. Six minutes later, Dany Morales converted a penalty kick, making it 2-0 before the half.

In the second half of play, Francisco Revolorio Guinac found Jaime Martinez Andrial for a goal, with Aeden Anderson knocking in the fourth on another penalty kick.

“Aaron found a bouncing ball outside the box and curled it into the top corner,” Signorin said. “Dany has really come on the last two games being his best. He was on the attack when he got fouled and connected on his PK.

“Later. we found Francisco through. He tried to beat the keeper and the ball ended up in front of Jaime, and he just passed it in. Aeden got whacked in the box and stepped to connect on his PK for his first varsity goal.

“Abisai (Ramirez-Carmona) and Grayson (Henderson) were great on the back line, Geo (Morales Lopez) played right back for the first time but looked like he has been doing it all year. Ismael put in some quality minutes as well.”

The Lynx had 18 shots, including 10 on goal, as Guinac recorded six shots and three on goal. Mendoza had three shots, as did Morales, with Anderson recording two.

Brandon Burney saved four shots and allowed just one goal to the Cadets in net in the final minutes of the match.

Webster City hosts Clear Lake on Monday before finishing the regular season at Charles City, Garner-Hayfield/Ventura and Fort Dodge next week.

Starting at $3.46/week.
