Behind some dominating performances, the Webster City girls tennis team finished last week with two convincing dual wins.

The Lynx downed Saydel, 7-2, and Hampton-Dumont/CAL, 9-0.

Kinzey Koestner, Cyra Christensen, Perla Torres, Alivia Burns and Gabbie Sebert all scored wins in singles for the Lynx vs. Saydel, who also claimed two of the three doubles matches.

Christensen earned an 8-0 victory at the No. 3 spot while Burns lost one only game at No. 5 and Koestner two at No. 2.

In doubles, Allie Severe and Burns along with Hailey Brims and Morgan Hackbarth were winners. Severe and Burns won 8-1 and Brim and Hackbarth posted an 8-4 victory.

“Great team win for the girls,” WCHS head coach Mark Fisher said. “Obviously it’s great to get the win, and to do so in dominating fashion, but score or no score, I saw a lot of growth (in the dual vs. Saydel) from the girls.

“They’ve been working hard, improving every day and I thought we saw a lot of that on display. I loved seeing the excitement of girls getting first time wins, of girls playing well and of girls having fun.”

Earning junior varsity wins were Delaney Lyons in singles along with the doubles teams of Torres and Seberg, Karina Murray and Alivia Hector, Koda Koster and Izzy McNiel, Sylvia Otteros and Maja Gordon, Natalie Segar and Salena Inthisane, and Liv Bergman and Evy Streigle.

In the win over the Bulldogs, Sebert, Christensen, Torres, Koestner, Severe and Burns were all victorious in singles. Sebert and Koestner each posted 8-0 wins while Burns lost just one game.

Great overall win for the girls (vs. HD/C),” Fisher said. “Obviously, the score shows a dominant performance all the way around, but just great to see some of the finer details this young team has picked up on.

“It was good to see Allie finally break in with a win at the No. 1 spot. This will hopefully be a confidence builder for her as she has a bright future ahead of her. All of the singles players played really smart solid matches.”

Burns and Severe, Brims and Hackbarth, and Otteros and Gordon were triumphant, dropping just six total games.

Segar and Inthisane, Bergman and Miley Mason, Bergman and McNiel, Segar and Mason, and McNiel and Mason were junior varsity doubles winners.

Webster City is at Nevada on Tuesday.
