Lynx split with Algona
ALGONA — Two of the best baseball teams in the North Central Conference split a doubleheader here Monday night.
Algona took the opener over Webster City, 5-4, as the Lynx rebounded with a 5-1 victory in the nightcap.
The Lynx (13-2 overall, 5-1 in league) took the lead in the fifth with two runs, breaking a 1-1 tie before adding two more runs in the sixth for the win. Matthew Tesdahl pitched six-plus, striking out five with just four hits and no earned runs allowed.
At the plate, Kaleb Hansen had a double with an RBI, as Tesdahl helped his own cause with two hits and an RBI.
Alex Staley scored twice and Carter Mickelson got the final out on the mound with a strikeout.
In the opener, Mickelson stole four bases and scored two runs with a hit, as Aiden Hrnicek had two hits and an RBI. Hansen also had an RBI, recording a hit and two walks.
Webster City takes on Mount Vernon in Rippey on Saturday from Walt Anderson Field at 2 p.m.
