Two more for Webster City
NEWELL — The Webster City baseball team picked up two victories here Saturday at the Newell-Fonda Tournament.
The Lynx bested Hinton, 12-0, and topped Council Bluffs St. Albert, 10-2.
Carter Mickelson, Braylon Dyvig and Syrus Willard combined on a three-hitter, striking out five with just one walk allowed on the mound for Webster City (12-1 overall).
Alex Staley was 3-for-4 with three runs scored and an RBI, Aiden Hrnicek drove in three runs and Mickelson plated two with a pair of hits. Matthew Tesdahl had two hits and scored twice, as Kaleb Hansen also had two hits.
The Lynx ended a scoreless affair with four in the fifth, three in the sixth and five in the seventh.
Webster City used that momentum in the second game vs. Council Bluffs St. Albert, plating eight runs in the first. Staley had two hits and four RBI, Jaxon Griffith recorded three hits with an RBI and a run scored, and Elan Becker had two RBI with three runs scored.
Hrnicek worked four-plus on the mound, allowing just three hits and no earned runs, as Staley pitched two-plus with three strikeouts.
The Lynx travel to Algona for a North Central Conference doubleheader on Monday beginning at 5 p.m.
