There’s nothing like starting your season on the right foot. Within the camp of the Webster City girls’ golf team, starting off with a victory on a proverbial home course is quite nice.
Hosting Manson-Northwest Webster for a dual meet on Tuesday at Briggs Woods Golf Course, the Lynx had a 223, which beat out the Cougars’ 253.
Senior Alley Odland had a strong showing, earning a medal with a score of 48. Teammate Carl Appel was the meet’s runner-up, after netting 52.
Freshman Claryssa Hanson turned in a 61, while junior Kennedy Halling carded a 62. Junior Claire Bailey picked up 65 strokes, and freshman Alleyna Dawson came away with a 68.
The Cougars were led by sophomore Brooklyn Boehler’s 60.
While the Lynx started off the season with a 1-0 record, Manson-Northwest Webster fell to 0-5.
Webster City gets to enjoy the comforts of home once more next Tuesday, welcoming in Clear Lake for a meet at the Webster City Links Golf Course.
