Kelly Stoakes and Delainey Bargfrede were honored recently as all-district softball selections by the Iowa Girls Coaches Association.

The two Webster City standouts were named in Class 3A.

Fort Dodge’s Jalen Adams, Tory Bennett and Mariah Myers, St. Edmond’s Gracie Harvey and Kaili Hennings, and a handful of area players were also selected.

Jordyn Rowley of Southeast Valley, Lillian Etherington from Algona, Emma Auten of Emmetsburg, North Union’s Emily Meyer, Cassie Beadle and Samantha Nielsen, Abbie Capesius from Bishop Garrigan and Newell-Fonda’s Kierra Jungers, Macy Sievers and Mary Walker were among those named.

Stoakes, who set several hitting records during her five-year career as a Lynx, hit .432 this past summer with 38 total hits. She had seven homers, 10 doubles and was walked 15 times.

In the field, Stoakes, a catcher, had just six errors, recording a .977 fielding percentage.

Bargfrede, who had a no-hitter and set the single-game WCHS record for strikeouts, went 19-7 with a 2.27 earned run average, as opponents hit just .205 off her.

She finished the season with 247 strikeouts against just 37 walks in over 163 innings pitched. Bargfrede also had 16 RBI, seven doubles, a triple and two home runs.

Webster City won a share of the North Central Conference this past summer.
