Webster City girls can’t stop Lions

The Webster City girls dropped a tough 2-0 decision here this past week to Clear Lake.

The Lions had a goal in the first half and one in the second to avenge a 1-0 loss to the Lynx in the season opener.

“This was a really tough loss for us,” WCHS head coach Kristine Mason said. “It was an even match and we had plenty of chances, we just weren’t able to convert.

“We’ve suffered quite a few injuries, both minor and some major, and it’s hurt our ability to give the starters more rest.”

Jillian Symens had five shots, with Jayme Perez recording two. Both Ashlee Nydegger and Amanda Lahr each had one.

“Our team has what it takes to go up against any team in this conference and win,” Mason said. “The work we’ve put in is evident each time we get on the pitch. We’ll continue to build for tomorrow and get better every day.

“I’m so proud of this team’s commitment to our program and the effort they put in.”

Webster City hosts Garner-Hayfield/Ventura on Friday.
