ALLEMAN — Jaxon Cherry showed off his form by sweeping the throwing events here Tuesday night at a meet the Comet Relays.

The field included Ankeny, West Des Moines Dowling, Johnston and host North Polk, as Webster City scored nine Top-4 finishes overall.

Cherry won the discus by over 11 feet with a throw of 145-11 and captured the shot put by over three feet with a best of 49-1.5.

Justin Callahan was the runner-up in the 800 and Keegan Hisler claimed silver in the high jump. The Webster City 4×100 relay of Aiden Hrnicek, Hisler, Luke Estlund and Jayden Weinzetl also finished second.

The Lynx were third in both the sprint medley (Hrnicek, Estlund, Weinzetl and Callahan) and 4×200 (Estlund, Hisler, Hrnicek and Weinzetl).

“We had many season and lifetime bests in windy conditions,” WCHS head coach Chad Hisler said. “I was proud of the way the kids competed.”

Weinzetl was fifth in the 100 with Beau Nohrenberg finishing fifth in the discus.

Webster City is back in action Friday when they compete in the Don Howard Invitational at Boone.
