LYNX INVITATIONAL: Boys’ event filled with top area talent

WEBSTER CITY — The Lynx Invitational returned to the Webster City Golf Course here Monday, as North Polk shined brightest of all.

The second-ranked (Class 3A) Comets held the Top-5 finishing places in the boys race, scoring a maximum low of 15 points. Algona was second, Ballard third, Waverly-Shell Rock fourth and No. 4 (1A) St. Edmond fifth.

Manson Northwest Webster was sixth and Fort Dodge seventh. Webster City placed 10th, followed by Eagle Grove and Humboldt.

Webster City’s Brayden Henely used a time of 19:04 to place 24th and lead the Lynx. Aiden Rahe was 39th, Owen Patterson 56th, Jack Barner 60th and Ivan Lopez 94th.

Eagle Grove’s Noah Thul placed 38th (19:51), Zabdi Castro was 47th, Felix Gonzalez 57th, Dustin Dawson 61st and Dylan Beck 78th.

South Hamilton’s Benjamin Bailey crossed in 52nd with a time of 20:40.49. Eli Potter was 77th in 21:30.94. Jagger Ferrie took 88th in 21:55.00.

Zach Sporaa of North Polk won the race in a time of 15:58.9 with Max Sporaa right behind him. Aaron Lursen earned another Top-10 for the Gaels, placing seventh in 17:26, as Algona’s Ryan Stundahl was right behind in 17:29.

Competing for the first time this year, Fort Dodge’s Ryan Madden clocked a time of 17:49 to place 11th overall.

Along with Lursen, Sam Mericle was 20th in 18:40 and Liam Shannon 25th in 19:07. Thomas Cosgrove placed 31st, Anthony Valles 35th, Carter Rial 54th and Joe Touney 93rd.

Michael Wagner followed Madden for the Dodgers, as he went 19:17 for 26th. Shawn Roberts was 43rd.

Algona had three more in the Top-15 alongside Stundahl, with Gavin Weber 13th in 17:57, Jace Mortensen 14th and Isaac Wilson 15th. Barrett Morgan rounded out the scoring in 30th.

Lane Moline led the way for Manson Northwest Webster, as he went 18:41 for 21st. Thade Lachelt was 27th, Carson Widlund 32nd, Thatcher Oswald 49th and Owen Eldridge 67th.

Humboldt’s top finish came courtesy Gabe Thumma, as he was 40th in 19:54. Hayden Hansen was 62nd, Daylin McDaniel 64th, Jayden Gargano 71st and Justin Ash 74th.

For Clarion-Goldfield/Dows, Christopher Greenfield finished 45th in 20:06. Tate Jackson (95th), Ian Schroder (106th) and Joshua Moore (110th) also ran.
