STORY CITY — Lane Swenson’s perfect run through the early portion of the season continued on Saturday, as he led South Hamilton’s reduced squad to 109 points and an eighth-place finish at the Jim Kinyon Norsemen Invite.

The Hawks took just six wrestlers to the tournament, all of whom placed fifth or better. Swenson, ranked No. 3 (Class 1A) at 170 pounds, was the featured attraction. He breezed through the semifinals and then took out Samual Bandstra of East Marshall/GMG, 12-5, in the finals to run his record to 15-0.

Thompson (195), also ranked third, ran into 2020 Arizona state champion Fernando Villaescusa in the finals and suffered his first loss of the season. Villaescusa, now at Gilbert, is ranked No. 4 (2A) at 182.

Thompson finished 3-1 on the day with a pair of pins and a 10-0 major decision win.

Brent Greenfield (182) placed third, Keyton Remsburg (113) was fourth, and Holden Klein (106) and Colton Willis (220) were both fifth.

Greenfield lost for just the second time this season to East Marshall/GMG’s Logan Walton in the quarters, but rebounded with back-to-back falls in 59 and 8 seconds on the backside of the bracket.

Hampton-Dumont/CAL won three individual crowns and the team title with 212 points. East Marshall/GMG (1931⁄2) was second, followed by Gilbert (184).
