WEBSTER CITY — Hamilton County has not one, but two ranked prep football teams.

Webster City moved up one spot to No. 7 in Class 3A, and South Hamilton entered the 1A Top 10 at No. 9 in the latest Associated Press rankings, which were voted on by a statewide panel of media members and released Monday afternoon.

The Lynx and Hawks both take 3-0 records into Week 4, and both will face significant tests. WCHS will travel to Humboldt to face the unbeaten Wildcats (3-0), while South Hamilton will host South Hardin (3-0), which is also perfect.

WCHS snuck by Ballard in Week 3, 8-7, on the strength of a touchdown late in the fourth quarter. South Hamilton went on the road and dominated previous No. 8-ranked Dike-New Hartford, 20-0.

Southeast Polk unseated seven-time defending state champion West Des Moines Dowling at the top of the 4A rankings following the Maroons’ upset loss to Johnston last Friday. Johnston entered the big class Top 10 at No. 8.

The other top-ranked teams this week include Dallas Center-Grimes (3A), Williamsburg (2A), OA-BCIG (1A), Grundy Center (A) and Don Bosco (8-man).

Williamsburg moved ahead of Prairie City-Monroe despite the fact that the Mustangs received nine of the 13 first-place votes. PCM was No. 1 in the previous two sets of rankings.
