WCHS closes out regular season with 9-0 loss to Cadets

Lynx head to Boone today for 1A districts

IOWA FALLS — The Webster City boys’ tennis team wrapped up its regular season with a 9-0 loss to Iowa Falls-Alden Monday afternoon.

Heath Patterson gave WCHS (0-8) its best shot at a singles victory, as he fought the Cadets’ Alex Geitz to an 8-5 decision in the No. 2 match. But IF-A (6-4) lost no more than two games in the other five contests.

The Lynx doubles teams of Jon Dixson and Seth Nelson, and Chase Black and Cody Van Kooten won two games each.

WCHS head coach Michael Ross praised Dixson, the lone senior on the team who has battled from the No. 1 position on the team all season.

“I can’t say enough about Jon,” Ross said. “He comes out each week against the opponent’s top spot and he has been up against some high quality players. That’s a true team player and that takes a lot of pressure off our younger guys.”

WCHS is scheduled to head to Boone this morning to take part in a Class 1A district meet.
