Swenson shoots 40, SH girls win

FORT DODGE — Krista Swenson’s season-low round of 40 won her the medalist honor and led the South Hamilton girls’ golf team to a 194-223 victory over St. Edmond at Lakeside Golf Course on Monday.

South Hamilton’s Katelyn Sogard fired a 46 to secure the runner-up spot. Sogard won a card back over St. Edmond’s Rylee Kinney, who also posted a 46.

Megan McSparin turned in a 53 for the Hawks, while Cortney Harris and Miranda Deppe added 55s.

South Hamilton (194) — Krista Swenson 40, Katelyn Sogard 46, Megan McSparin 53, Cortney Harris 55, Miranda Deppe 55, Grace Young 56.

St. Edmond (223) — Rylee Kinney 46, Amanda Richman 54, Clare Condon 61, Chloe Lewison 62, Hannah Zinnel 64, Cameron Brown 70.

Medalist — Swenson (SH). Runner-up — Sogard (SH).

SH boys second behind Gaels

JEWELL — The cold, wind and rain got the better of the South Hamilton boys’ golf team at the Jewell Golf and Country Club Monday afternoon.

Well, everyone not named Trevor Lammers.

Lammers dealt with the conditions better than the other 17 golfers in the triangular field, as he posted a 42 on the par-36 layout to snag the medalist honor. St. Edmond shot a 186 to win, six shots in front of South Hamilton (192).
