EARLHAM — Two individual races and the relays provided the South Hamilton boys’ track and field team with the bulk of its points at Tuesday’s Earlham Coed that featured a field of 11 teams.

The Hawks won four events and collected eight top-three medals in all en route to 82 points and a third-place team finish behind Des Moines Christian (152) and Adair-Casey/Guthrie Center (110).

Freddie Lewis and Logan Peters hauled in individual victories. Lewis claimed the 400-meter gold in 54.83 seconds, while Peters bested a quality 800 field in 2:00.61. Two spots behind Peters in third was teammate Conner Hill (2:01.47).

Lewis, Peters and Hill all ran on South Hamilton’s winning 4×400 relay (3:38.45), as did Cole Berg. Brock Galetich, Sam Lewis and Quinton Grove joined Berg on the victorious distance medley relay (3:53.09).

Two more relays — the 4×800 (8:36.46) and shuttle hurdle (1:10.31) — were second. Grove, Berg, Freddie Lewis and Ty Skartvedt teamed up for the two-mile race, while Lane Swenson, Preston Stoecker, Tanner Blue and Brandyn Feighner took on the hurdles.

Galetich, Sam Lewis, Hill and Peters comprised South Hamilton’s third-place sprint medley relay (1:40.70).

The South Hamilton girls’ team claimed one medal and scored 412⁄3 points to finish in the seventh-place position. Harlan (1691⁄3) took home the team title.

Hailey Cavan was the lone Hawk to finish in the top three. She secured bronze in the 100 hurdles in 18.03 seconds.
