Daniels earns 2A all-state praise

WEBSTER CITY – One of the best soccer players ever to put on a Webster City uniform received one final going away present late last week.

Was it a surprise? Hardly.

Senior midfielder Landon Daniels was named a Class 2A honorable mention all-state pick by the Iowa Soccer Coaches Association. He was the lone Lynx player to receive recognition on a statewide scale.

A four-year varsity contributor, Daniels led WCHS in goals (15) and assists (7) this past season. He was the face of a team that set a school record for consecutive victories (15) and finished 17-2, just one win shy of the program’s all-time best. The Lynx spent the entire regular season ranked among the Top 15, reaching as high as No. 6 entering the postseason.

Daniels concluded his career with 31 goals and he became just the fourth player in program history to reach 30. During his four years in uniform, WCHS put together a 56-16-1 record, a winning percentage of .767.
