A-P dominates singles, Lynx on tennis courts
WEBSTER CITY – Always talented with a deep roster, the Aplington-Parkersburg boys’ tennis team looked like it was at home on the WCHS courts on Tuesday.
Backed by a dominant effort in singles, the Falcons disposed of Webster City, 8-1, in a dual meet.
Playing pro sets to 10, Aplington-Parkersburg swept the six singles matches, winning 60 of 73 games. The Falcons appeared to be on their way to a sweep until the Lynx No. 3 doubles team of Brandon Peck and Sean Godfredsen stopped the bleeding with a 10-4 romp past Nate Hemann and Jayden Terrill.
The victory was a bit of a reprieve for both Peck and Godfredsen. Peck dropped a 10-4 decision to Hemann in the No. 3 singles match, while Terrill handed Godfredsen an identical loss in the No. 6 bout.
