SH boys still search for answers after loss to CMB

JEWELL – Brady Stover’s lay-up at the buzzer propelled the CMB boys’ basketball team to its first victory of the season and left South Hamilton’s players once again scratching their heads on Coach Jim Marsh Court Tuesday night.

Expected to be a Heart of Iowa Conference title contender prior to the start of the season, the Hawks (2-3, 1-3 HOIC) have fallen on hard times and the 59-57 loss to the Raiders only added to their misery.

“Right now we’re struggling,” South Hamilton head coach Nathan Hill said. “We somehow need to find some confidence and starting having fun again. I think too many guys are putting too much pressure on themselves and they just need to slow down and relax.”

CMB (1-5, 1-4 HOIC) outscored South Hamilton 19-10 in the fourth quarter.

Will Clapper poured in 21 points, Stover finished with 16 and Hunter Gunderson had 14 for the Raiders.

Collin Hill was South Hamilton’s leader with 19 points, seven rebounds and five steals. Logan Klemp did his job inside with nine points, nine boards and four assists before he fouled out.

Trey Woodall hit two of the Hawks’ three 3-pointers and finished with 10 points.
