Hawks wallop Greene County in 4 sets

JEFFERSON – Ady Wintermote and Alyssa Hegland served as potent weapons for the South Hamilton volleyball team here Tuesday night, as the Hawks pushed past Greene County in four sets, 3-1.

Wintermote slammed 20 kills and Hegland smacked 17 in South Hamilton’s 25-18, 25-15, 22-25, 25-8 win. The two combined to hit .333.

“I was very happy with how we played,” South Hamilton head coach Rusty Wintermote said. “In (sets) one, two and four we took control from the very beginning and did a nice job of passing. It was really one of our better passing nights in the (sets) we won.”

Still running a 5-1 offense, setter Alissa Moss

distributed 34 of the team’s 40 assists. Younger sister Anna Moss, the Hawks’ libero, roamed the back row and collected 21 digs. Ady Wintermote added seven and Hegland registered six.

South Hamilton (16-8, 5-2 HOIC) dropped in eight aces on Greene County (14-17, 2-6 HOIC). Hegland connected for four of them, Ady Wintermote chipped in two, and Lily Skartvedt and Katelyn Sogard both had one.

The Hawks will close out the regular season at home this evening. They will host CMB on Senior Night at 6:30 p.m.
