ULLESTAD WINS COLLEGE GOLF TOURNAMENT: Trevor Ullestad, a 2014 South Hamilton graduate, sat atop the leaderboard of the prestigious NJCAA Fall National Preview golf tournament following 54 holes earlier this week at the Duran Golf Club in Melbourne, Florida.

The Indian Hills Community College sophomore shot three matching rounds of 70 for a 6-under-par 210 and a one shot victory over Kerry Sweeney of Eastern Florida State. It was Ullestad’s first individual title as a collegiate.

Indian Hills, the reigning national champion, shared first place with Odessa College.

Melbourne will also host the 2016 national tournament next May.

Ullestad won the 2014 Class 2A individual prep title and led South Hamilton to the team championship as well. His freshman year at Indian Hills ended this past spring with him being tabbed an All-American.

LYNX JV SPIKERS WIN: Halle Mason laced four kills and Cassidy Nerland belted three to lead Webster City to a junior varsity volleyball win over Clear Lake, 21-13 and 21-10, on Tuesday.

Sarah Vogelbacher registered nine assists. Devyn VanKooten contributed eight digs and two blocks, and AnnMarie LaSourd chipped in eight digs.

LYNX JV RUNNERS WIN GOLD: Max Harfst (18:44) placed second, Aaron Halbach (18:51) was third, Kyle Porter (18:54) fourth and Brock Blake (19:00) sixth, as they led the Webster City boys’ junior varsity cross country team to the top of the standings at Tuesday’s North Central Conference meet in Fort Dodge.

The Lynx finished with 25 points.

Matt Johnson (10th, 19:23), Tucker Judkins (12th, 19:34) and Isaac Bernard (19th, 20:09) all placed in the top 20.

Elycia Obrecht (24:54) and Kaitlyn Wagner (25:25) placed sixth and eighth, respectively, to lead the WCHS girls’ junior varsity team.

LYNX MIDDLE SCHOOL XC WINS TOO: The Webster City boys’ middle school cross country team nipped Humboldt by a single point, 62-63, to win the North Central Conference meet on Tuesday.

Sam Vanderpool (12:43), Elijah Alden (13:09) and Derricklee Harms (13:11) placed sixth, 10th and 11th, respectively, to lead the team. Matthew Perin (14:05) snuck into the top 20 at No. 19.

Kaelyn Butz (14:32) was the top girls’ middle school competitor for the Lynx. She placed sixth.
