Trojets come up empty at Dunkerton Invite

DUNKERTON – Placed in a pool with the tournament’s top teams, the Northeast Hamilton volleyball squad dropped all three of its matches at Saturday’s Dunkerton Invite.

The Trojets (1-19) were swept by 10th-ranked (Class 1A) Turkey Valley (21-2, 21-3), East Buchanan (21-8, 21-7) and Nashua-Plainfield (21-4, 21-10).

“It wasn’t an easy day for us,” NEH head coach Kacey Pruismann said. “We were hoping to get a chance to play Waterloo Christian, Clarksville and even Dunkerton again because they are more of our level of competition. We took it in stride though, working through difficult rotations and never giving up. I was very proud of the way we played.”

Senior setter Lillian Chamness missed the tournament.

Leah Meyer and Devyn Van Kooten both cranked three kills on the day. Cassidy Nerland added two.

Libero MaKayla Tapper had a team-high 10 digs, and Tiffany Werner Moore chipped in four assists and three service aces – both team highs.

NEH will travel to Clarksville for an Iowa Star Conference match this evening.
