Pony Express toll road in Webster City Saturday

Saturday, the Pony Express toll road will be set up from 9 a.m. to noon in Webster City. This will be located on east and west Second Street. The Pony Express Riders of Iowa is a network of volunteer “riders” who host fundraisers in their home county throughout the year. The money they raise benefits Camp Sunnyside in Des Moines, which is a program to help children and adults with disabilities. Kendall Young Library board meets tonight

The Kendall Young Library board of trustees will meet at 6 p.m. tonight in the meeting room at the library, located in the lower level of the library. The library is located at 1201 Willson Ave. The entrance is from the parking lot. The agenda will include discussion on finances, the Trane project, the library logo, the strategic plan and the board self evaluation.

Brew Oil agreement, new electric rates, urban renewal on council agenda tonight

When the City Council of Webster City is gaveled into session tonight, it will vote on three key issues which originated in previous council actions. Brew Oil Company’s redevelopment of the former Doc’s Stop convenience store, at 407 Closz Drive, Webster City, has already seen major construction, but a formal agreement between the firm and City of Webster City, is being presented to the council for the first time tonight. Al Welsh Orchestra to perform at Briggs Woods

As part of the upcoming Jay Nugent Band Reunion, the community is invited to purchase tickets to attend an Al Welsh Orchestra social hour and dance. It will be held on April 17 starting at 6 p.m. at the Briggs Woods Conference Center. The Al Welsh Orchestra, specializing in Big Band music, originated in Webster City and is now directed by Steve Cook who graduated from WCHS with the Class of 1977.
