Hinderks faces February arraignment on drug charge
A Woolstock man is scheduled to be arraigned for possession of meth on February 12 in Hamilton County following his arrest Sunday in Webster City
Caleb John Hinderks, 31, 3296 Franklin Avenue, Woolstock, was charged Sunday with possession with Intent to deliver a schedule II controlled substance, to-wit: methamphetamine, a class B felony.
He was arrested after a traffic stop in the 900 block of First Street when Police K9 Moab alerted officers to the presence of drugs, according to Shiloh Mork, Webster City police chief.
Hinderks was initially stopped for an equipment violation, Mork said.
According to the criminal complaint filed by Officer Dan Watkins, “I observed a silver Buick leave the Hy-Vee parking lot going west on Second Street. The vehicle had a right headlight out.”
Mork said in the release, “When the officer made contact with the driver, they noticed the driver acting suspiciously and sweating profusely. The officer collected the driver’s information and returned to their police vehicle to address the equipment violation.
“The Webster City Police Department K9 Unit arrived on scene at which time Police K9 Moab was walked around the vehicle. Police K9 Moab alerted to the presence of a controlled substance in the vehicle. Officers conducted a probable cause search of the vehicle and located a digital scale and two bags containing assorted smaller clear plastic baggies.
“A search of the driver resulted in locating a small baggie of white powdery substance. A second larger baggy was located on their person containing rocks of methamphetamine and a white powdery substance. In all, over 13 grams of methamphetamine were located.”
In the criminal complaint, Watkins said, “On his phone screen which was not locked, there were messages from a well-known female asking when he was coming to smoke with them. The substances in both baggies and on the scale field-tested positive for meth. The large rock weighed well over 5 grams. Caleb was arrested and charged accordingly.”
Hinderks was booked into the Hamilton County Jail, according to online records.
A Class B Felony is punishable by up to 25 years in prison.
The Webster City Police Department was assisted by the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office.
