Hinson/Turek projected in U.S. Senate primary races

The earliest returns for the primary election were mostly statewide results. The results for Hamilton County were not released by presstime.
In the United States Senate race, Ashley Hinson, who was running against Jim Carlin for the Republican party was leading by 75% and was predicted the winner. Josh Turek was declared the winner against Zach Wahls. Hinson and Turek will face each other in the fall.
The Republican race for governor was mixed at press time, with U.S. Rep. Feenstra and Zach Lahn trading leading positions. Also on the ballot were state Rep. Eddie Andrews, Brad Sherman and Adam Steen. The winner will run against Rob Sand, who was unopposed on the Democratic ticket.
In Hamilton County, the local election only had one contest, which was in the Republican Party for the Iowa House District 55 seat between Kurtis Bower and Beau Klaver.
Contested races were as follows:
In the Democratic race for United States representative in District 4 Dave Dawson, Stephanie Steiner and Ashley WolfTornabane were in competition.
The Republican candidate for District 4, Chris McGowan was unopposed.
State Representative District 55: Cynthia Paschen was unopposed on the Democratic ballot, while Kurtis Bower and Beau Klaver are competing for the Republican position. The winner of this contest will meet Paschen in the fall election.
For the Auditor of State: Taylor Wettach was unopposed on the Democratic ballot, while Chris Cournoyer and Abigail Maas were on the Republican ballot.
These are the statewide races that were uncontested in the primary election.
Secretary of State: Ryan Peterman was unopposed on the Democratic ballot, as was Paul D. Pate for the Republican ballot.
Treasurer of State: Neither candidate is opposed in this race. John Norwood ran as a Democrat, while incumbent Roby Smith ran as a Republican.
Secretary of Agriculture: Chris Jones was unopposed on the Democratic ballot, while incumbent Mike Naig was also unopposed on the Republican ballot.
Attorney General: Nate Willems was uncontested on the Democratic ballot as was incumbent Brenna Bird on the Republican ballot.
The following jobs in the county do not have candidates in both parties. Those were as follows:
County Treasurer: Matt Matteson was on the Republican ballot.
County Recorder: Kim Anderson was on the Republican ballot
County Attorney: Bridget A. Chambers was on the Democratic ballot
Board of Supervisors-District 3: Rick Young was on the Republican ballot.
