DES MOINES – According to a Monday news release, Iowa State Auditor Rob Sand released the details of his 73 remaining stops on his 100 Town Hall Tour.

Among his 73 stops will be a town hall meeting in Webster City, held at 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesday, July 11, at West Twin Park. Sand will make a stop in Iowa Falls (Estes Park) and Fort Dodge (City Square Park, 424 Central Ave.) on July 27.

On August 3, Sand will hold a town hall meeting at Gazebo Park in Clarion.

This is his fifth Town Hall Tour since taking office in 2019, in which he has all events with advanced notice and open to the public.

“The celebration of our country’s democracy is the perfect time for an elected official to say they welcome speaking to the public, instead of trying to avoid them,” said Sand. “Our office uncovered a record amount of waste during my first term in office in part because we listen to Iowans of all political stripes about where to look.”

Sand will discuss the new pro-corruption law that allows state agencies to hide records from the Auditor’s Office, the expansion of his Public Innovations and Efficiencies (PIE) program that encourages government entities and school districts to come up with creative ways to save tax dollars.

Sand will also speak on the new school voucher system that shifts tax dollars from public schools into private schools without limitations or transparency on how the private schools spend it.

The town hall meetings are open to the public and the media.

“I want to hear from Iowans, and this allows everyone plenty of time to plan for compliments or complaints,” said Sand.

Starting at $3.46/week.
