Historic clothing exhibit at Jane Young House open Saturday

The Webster City Women’s Club invites you to the Jane Young House, 629 Elm St, Webster City on Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. view their new clothing exhibit and house. The clothing exhibit highlights fashions from 1947, Happy Birthday America, and a collection of clothing from former and current retail stores in Webster City. An additional room is dedicated to the history of the Women’s Club. There are lots lots of history and a beautiful house to view. A free will donation is appreciated and it is handicapped accessible.

Legacy Learning- Boone River Valley invites community to creative JunqueFest stop

Legacy Learning Boone River Valley will offer a unique creative reuse experience during JunqueFest this Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Their location is at 719 Seneca St. in Webster City. Visitors are invited to stop in throughout the day to explore free reclaimed yarn and textile fiber available for creative projects including string art, weaving, crochet, macrame, fiber sculpture, and more. Cemetery Flag removal schedule after Memorial Day

The American Legion Post 191 will be coordinating the removal of the flags the week after Memorial Day. Those who own and store their personal flags will need to remove those on Tuesday. The Legion also encourages community members to assist who are able to join Legion coordinators on Wednesday to take down the remainder of the flags. Wilson Brewer Park museum open this weekend

The Depot museum will be open Friday and Saturday from 1 to 4 p.m. The Depot is located within the Wilson Brewer Park, at 220 Ohio St. in Webster City. Historic collections about Webster City are on display throughout the Depot. The other buildings on the property are the original Hamilton County Courthouse, the Mulberry Center Church, the Jackson/Brewer cabin, the Bonebright cabin and the Harmony school house are placed throughout the park. For more information about the history of the park or when other buildings can be explored, visit with the volunteer staff at the Depot.

French Church hosts Ice Cream social Memorial Day weekend

The French Church of Woolstock is hosting an Ice Cream Social on Saturday from 10 to 2 p.m. The French Church is located three miles east of Woolstock on County Road C70, near Keokuk Avenue. This special open house is a come and go event, helping families and friends of the French Church celebrate their heritage, and remember those who have gone before. The open house will help showcase some of the preservation efforts they have made with the church and cemetery. Donations to help continue their efforts will be accepted.

Summer Reading kickoff to be May 31

Kendall Young Library will be hosting a Family Summer Kickoff Party at the end of May The Kendall Young Library will be celebrating the coming of summer with a Family Summer Kickoff Party on the lawn at 1201 Willson Ave. This will be held on Sunday, May 31 from 4:30-6:30 p.m. There will be live music and food for all ages. This fun family event will offer games, face painting, and a balloon artist. Bring your lawn chair and the whole family for this great event.
