Auditions set for next WCCT play

Webster City Community Theatre’s next production is the family holiday favorite, “Junie B. in Jingle Bells, Batman Smells.” Auditions are tonight and Tuesday, Monday and Tuesday, at 6 pm at the theatre, 1001 Willson Ave.

Director Stephanie Hill will be looking for 4 adult females and 6 adult males to portray first-grader Junie B. Jones, five of her classmates, two of her teachers, Junie’s grandfather, and a PTA member. The production is scheduled for Dec. 4 to 6 and 11 to 13.

The story follows Junie B. Jones, a first-grader, who is super-excited about the upcoming Holiday Sing-Along and Secret Santa gift exchange at her school. Too bad tattletale May keeps ruining all of Junie B.’s fun. So when Junie B. draws May’s name for Secret Santa, she comes up with the perfect plan to teach her nemesis a lesson. But will the Christmas spirit of peace and goodwill interfere before she can give you-know-who what she deserves? The endearing tale based on the best-selling book series by Barbara Park.
