South Hamilton boys can’t slow Roland-Story

JEWELL — A hot-shooting Roland-Story squad raced by the South Hamilton boys here Tuesday night, 71-34.

After scoring 19 points in the first quarter, the Norsemen dropped 30 in the second to help secure their first win.

Benjamin Swenson, a freshman, led all scorers with 19 points for the Hawks, adding nine rebounds. Grant Larson tallied 11 points and three assists, while Jose Babcock had three rebounds.

For Roland-Story, Luke Thoreson, Jake Berggren and Carter Barber all hit double figures. Thoreson had 17, Berggren scored 14 with four made 3-pointers and Barber finished with 10.

Barber also had nine rebounds while Jake Birkland and Thoreson each dished out six assists. The Norsemen forced 26 turnovers, had 14 steals and held a 42-17 advantage in total rebounds.

South Hamilton concludes 2024 when they host West Marshall on Friday. They tip back off in 2025 on Thursday, Jan. 2, by taking on St. Edmond in Des Moines at Wells Fargo Arena.
