JEWELL – South Hamilton put a statement out there on Friday night, trouncing South Central Calhoun in district football action, 62-8.

After going up 8-0 following the first 12 minutes, the Hawks scored 24 points in the second. They added 14 in the third and put up 16 more in the fourth quarter even with the clock running.

Landen Skartvedt, a senior, showed he is back to 100 percent by rushing 11 times for 127 yards and two scores. Skartvedt, a top returning player from a year ago, missed the opening games this season with an injury.

His production was part of a 500-yard rushing night for South Hamilton, as they attempted just one pass. Sophomore Nick Severseike, who has carried the load when Skartvedt was out, had 121 yards and three touchdowns on just seven carries.

Kolby Hodnefield, a freshman, had an 80-yard touchdown run, while Blake Harris and Noah Gunderson also found the end zone.

South Hamilton averaged 11 yards per rush on the night against the Titans.

Kaden Schwandt had 1.5 sacks, while both Owen Renaud and Owen Duns had a sack each. The Hawks finished with 11 tackles for loss, while both Skartvedt and Teagan Trask picked off passes. Ernie Taylor and Duns added fumble recoveries.

This was the first win in seven tries for South Hamilton over South Central Calhoun.

Next up for the Hawks will be Manson Northwest Webster this Friday in Manson.
