No. 4 Lynx boys remain undefeated

Webster City fights past Bulldogs on the road in soccer, 3-1

HAMPTON — The fourth-ranked (Class 2A) Webster City boys stayed perfect here Monday, posting a 3-1 victory over Hampton-Dumont/CAL.

Eddy Fuentes scored off a pair of assists by Eduardo Perez for the Lynx, with teammate Conner Peck recording a goal in the second half for insurance.

“I thought the back line once again played well,” WCHS head coach Craig Signorin said. “We had a couple undisciplined moments, but overall, carried the weight.

“Our possession was poor, and I felt like we missed a couple golden opportunities.”

The Lynx (10-0 overall, 7-0 in North Central Conference) finished with 19 shots including 11 on goal with seven corners. Hampton-Dumont/CAL scored in the 70th minute on a goal by Fernando Mota.

Webster City has won each of the last eight meetings with the Bulldogs, including a 3-0 home triumph in a matchup earlier this season.

Next action for the Lynx will be Thursday when they host Belmond-Klemme at 7:30 p.m.
